Data and sync
How local storage and offline mode work
Understand device-local records, offline changes, queued sync, and why local-only storage is not a backup.

- Web, iOS, and Android; platform storage behavior differs

Know the four data modes
- Local-only keeps entries in storage controlled by this device/browser.
- Cloud Backup and sync queues and exchanges eligible changes for a signed-in, entitled account after it is enabled.
- File export downloads CSV, JSON, or eligible PDF output; it is not an automatically updated cloud copy.
- End-to-end encryption protects verified synced categories with account encryption; it does not turn local-only storage into backup.
Work offline
- Open an already set-up app. Core mood logging can continue without a connection.
- Create, edit, or delete an entry normally.
- If Cloud Backup is enabled, watch for Offline or a pending count. The operation is saved locally and queued.
- Reconnect, keep Vibbrancy open, then use Settings → Data & Storage → Sync Now if pending work does not process.
- Verify Synced or no pending changes before changing devices or storage.
Expected result
Local changes remain usable on this device. With eligible cloud backup active, queued creates, updates, and deletes process when connectivity returns. Local-only users do not gain a cloud copy merely by reconnecting.
Protect local changes
- Use this non-destructive recovery sequence before changing storage.
- Export important history while it is visible.
- Do not uninstall, clear browser/site data, or reset platform storage while a local copy is the only confirmed copy.
- Clear Cache says pending changes are preserved, but it is still not a backup or a general first troubleshooting step.
- Confirm sync state before assuming another device contains the same data.
Important boundary
Local-only storage is not a backup and may be lost through device loss, uninstall, browser or site-data clearing, operating-system cleanup, or similar platform behavior. Cloud sync, a downloaded export file, and end-to-end encryption are separate features with different purposes.
Contact support
If the safe recovery steps do not work, email hello@vibbrancy.app. Include your platform, app version, the visible error text, what you were doing, and whether you were online. For sync trouble, you may include the app’s copied sync summary after reviewing it.
Never send a password, PIN, recovery code, access token, private mood or journal content, health details, or raw diagnostics that contain secrets. Vibbrancy support will never ask for them.
